Introducing Sophie Luxton!
Sophie is one of Toronto's most dynamic and vibrant dance instructors. She creates a comfortable environment where both beginner and advanced dancers are inspired and challenged to develop their dancing and performance skills. Sophie has taught through her own companies "Superfly Dance Fitness" and "Kata Kata Dance" as well as through JCC, Roland Semprie, Level V, Eclipse Fitness, Diesel Fitness, University of Toronto, Toronto Burlesque Festival University, Rita Ridaz and Stretch Fitness, among others.
Sophie’s classes have been covered by Fashion, Globe and Mail, Toro, Elle Canada, Toronto Star, Chatelaine and Toronto Life. She has been a featured instructor on Much Music’s “Fandemonium”, “Sexy Girl”, “Breakfast Television”, “Between The Sheets” and “Three Takes”. With her “Inner Goddess” workshops, Sophie has worked with hundreds of women of all ages and is also a “Have It All Woman” instructor.

Sophie recently closed the doors on her 4-year successful run of her dance studio "Superfly Dance Fitness", in order to focus on performance, choreography and show production. However, she will continue to offer workshops and classes around the city.

Welcome to my favourite (and most famous!) workshop. This is where we spend 2 and 1/2 hours indulging ourselves, moving the way we want to, feeling beautiful just the way we are and letting our sensual and fun energy fill our bodies. This workshop is a time of amazing discovery about yourself and you will walk out feeling like a million bucks with a knowing smile on your face and a new confidence in your step. Better than chocolate and a make-over, this is where real and lasting confidence and body love lives.
This workshop starts off with an exotic dance warm-up on the floor to stretch out and get into our bodies and our space. We tune into the power of moving slowly, feeling our unique body shapes and emphasizing our curves. Then we indulge our burlesque side; sex kitten sweetness, cheeky moves and fun attitude. We play with boas and gloves and begin to discover the decadent fun of the striptease. From there, we tap into our feline and femme fatale side; sensual, powerful, expressive and unafraid. These moves are unashamedly female and although they look great for observers, they feel better doing them. We learn a lap dance and strip tease routine that will become your own as you add your unique feeling and style to the sequence. At the end of this workshop, you will have opened up yourself to free and pure sensual movement...what a beautiful day it will be!
For those who are interested in taking this workshop again, as always, you will find new movements and experiences for yourself and new material addedfrom the burlesque repetoire will also add to your journey. What you need: You need to bring comfortable clothing and a pair of high heels you can dance in. Ankle straps are recommended for stability. We will be taking off a top and bottom layer so be prepared for what you'd like to show underneath. No expectations; you can go down to bra and underwear or t-shirt and bike shorts and save the real deal for later! What you wear won't have anything to do with what you learn or your sexiness factor so go with what is comfortable. All women; from totally dressed up to comfortable yoga gear are welcome and appreciated! If you have tender knees and/or ankles, please bring a yoga mat. If you have your own boa and/or gloves, bring them. I will have some to provide as well.
Location: Mad for Dance Studio at 263 Adelaide Street West.
The studio is on the south side of Adelaide, two blocks west of University. TTC: It is a short walk from St. Andrew station, which is on the University line. You can also take either the Queen or King Streetcar and get off at John St. and walk to Adelaide. The studio is east of John Street by about one block. Parking: On Adelaide, just east of Spadina. 363 Adelaide St. West. Rates are generally $2.00/1/2 hour. There is also one at 105 Spadina Avenue. Same rates. There is limited street parking in this area.

Pussycat Dolls 8-week course with Sophie! Starting January 2010.
DESCRIPTION: Meet your Inner Doll! Sophie's "Pussycat Dolls" class teaches the PCD style of dance which is sexy, feminine and tons of fun! This style takes inspiration from pop, jazz, hip hop and burlesque. Class will include a warm-up, conditioning, isolations and choreography. Students should wear comfortable clothing that will allow a lot of movement - yoga outfits are perfect. High heels are highly recommended although running shoes are fine. Heels must be comfortable and give great support - ankles straps are recommended. No mules or slip-on's please. The "Pussycat Dolls" class is designed for every woman; no dance experience needed - attitude is everything!
DATE/TIME: There are two classes being offered. Wednesday nights from 7:30 - 8:30pm running Jan. 20th - March 10th. Thursday afternoons from 1:15 - 2:15pm running January 21st - March 11th.
LOCATION: Groove Creative Arts Centre. 491 Eglinton Avenue West. Suite 400. South side of Eglinton, 4 blocks west of Avenue above "Auto Grill" restaurant.
PRICE: $180 for 8 week session.

Stagette Parties!
** Mad Men Garters and Gloves! **
Based on the popular TV show, "Mad Men", this hour party introduces the magic of wearing stockings and garter belts and teaches a routine for taking off a pair of gloves and stockings...we leave the garter on! This is a really fun and cheeky party and goes great with a martini theme!
** Exotic Dance and Striptease **
This lesson teaches the most popular exotic dance moves and a few striptease tricks! Great for photo opps and very popular for groups going out dancing afterwards. Use your newly-acquired weapons for good only, ladies!
Sophie's base price for stagette parties (without any travel or special requests) is $200/10 people and under and $20/head over 10 people. This is for one hour of instruction.
